This walkthrough for Deep Dish Dungeon will show you both the location of the Axe and the Bean Gem, the latter being a key item needed to complete the game. As with previous walkthroughs, this guide wont go through most optional content.
Return to the main camp to store items and refresh food buffs, then go back to the sewers using the shortcut you unlocked before the eel boss. Backtrack until you reach the split in the path, then go through the broken gate. Turn the wheel to lower the water and continue onwards.
Crouch through the hole to reach the next area, along with a skeleton that will attack you straight away. Continue along, then sprint jump over the gap onto the stairs next to the grassy area.
Continue through this next section into the tunnel until you reach the end and you’ll find the Axe. The Axe is used to cut down the brown roots you sometimes find, such as the ones you just passed to the left and the ones near to the hub campsite.
Note: while you can keep exploring this area for extra goodies, this is all you currently need to progress your main goal of finding the gems.
Another Hub ShortcutWith Axe in hand, head all the way back to the boat (follow the path back, then take the stairs up at the split and keep going). At the boat, head back to the fusebox and turn the top one on. Then go all the way back along the boat ride to reach the end and a door that’s now open.
Past the gate is a series of caves inhabited by goblins. Take the left path up, then take the first left you can through a small entrance in the wall. Inside, you’ll find a railroad track which you should follow along. Partway through here you’ll discover 5 explosives, used to destroy the large grey rocks.
Use the explosives to create a path forward past the railroad tracks until you reach a ladder. Keep going forward past the ladder, through the path that contains the black bean bush. Follow it along until you reach a large door at the end, then use the plank nearby to make a bridge.
Opening the door reveals that it’s actually the one from the hub area, giving you a handy shortcut back to the start. From there, turn around and go through the building to the right. This takes you back to the section with the axe, and you can now progress further.
Crypt and Bean Gem
Jump the gap like before, then follow the stairs down to the bottom. It looks like this is a dead end, but you can make use of nails (1 Iron Rod) and rope (2 vines). With the hammer equipped and nails in the inventory, looking at flat walls will let you hammer a nail in.
With a nail in place, you can then add a rope. Do this at the bottom of the stairs to create a path down. Then at the bottom, head over to the wall and interact with the metal part and slide it across. Do the same with the next moving door, then go down the rope in the final room.
Platform across to the skeleton archer, and you’ll find a water fountain. If you continue slightly further, there’s another moving door hiding a dagger and armor in a chest behind it.
Head back to the chasm, and place another nail and rope to the left of the platform the skeleton was on. Do this one final time at the bottom of the stairs, and you’ll reach the end.
Take the path to the left of the picture with the skeletons, then move the sliding door to the left. Inside is a camp that you can use as a temporary base. The chest inside features a few goodies, including the Ruby Necklace treasure. You can also use the iron rods to make more nails, which you’ll need more of to progress in the next section.
A Useful WeaponHead out of the camp and continue until you reach the water fountain. On the opposite side is a moving door, featuring a short sliding puzzle behind it. Move the first door, then move the door to the left (you’ll want to slide it all the way to the right). Then, move the door that was immediately in front when you entered and slide it to the left. Move it as far as you can, and you’ll find a chest with the Knight’s Blade.
Bean Gem Location
From there, continue past the fountain into the shaft, and use nail / rope combinations to progress further down. At the bottom, you have a few paths to choose from. The slightly slanted pathway eventually leads to an elevator, which acts as a shortcut to the prison area. It’s slow, but still faster than taking your makeshift route all the way back.
If you follow the left path then turn left shortly in, you’ll find a handle and a statue mold. The mold requires 16 clay per statue, with the statues used for a later puzzle.
The right path is the one to the next key item. Go through both moving doors, and you’ll find the Bean Gem (no boss fight for this one). The area behind it requires you to make multiple statues using the mold from earlier, but it’s not part of the main quest. You can make use of the elevator to slowly exit and return to the main camp.
