Online mining with grumpy dwarves

It's been a while since it released but Deep Rock Galactic is still a ton of online multiplayer fun so let's get digging and unearth a real gem.

Nothing causes more disappointment than hype so at Video Chums, we avoid hyping games prior to playing them for ourselves. 🤩

I'll help you mine from a distance with my gun

I can't believe I reviewed Deep Rock Galactic over 6 years ago and it's still going strong. When I was playing it again before writing this, I was impressed with how many folks were playing it online and had no problem joining folks and even when we were playing, more chums joined us and the more, the merrier, especially when it comes to these silly dwarf miners. Speaking of which, that's one of my favourite aspects of Deep Rock Galactic as the miners are so funny with their gruff voices and over-the-top machismo that it's actually kind of cute. Sure, their beards are gross but these little fellows have a fun sense of comradery and you can even express it by pressing in the right stick. 🧔 v1d30chumz tzyzvvyztwywqv

Deep Rock Galactic Review You always find deposits in the strangest places

The basic gameplay of Deep Rock Galactic has you enter mines, complete missions, and then escape before the timer runs out. As you do, you'll shoot enemies as you would in most first-person shooters and press a button to mine. As you collect resources, you can deposit them at your base or a mobile robotic helper if the current mission lets you use it. Your inventory can get full so depositing stuff regularly is a must. It's a very enjoyable loop and combat can be fun, too, as you have a shield that depletes and can rescue each other if the alien monsters ever get the best of anyone. There are also clever mechanics like being able to extend and travel along ropes which is always a good time. 😸

There's been a lot of content added since I last played Deep Rock Galactic with a bunch of seasons already passed and it's excellent to see so much support poured into this gem of an online game. Back at the base between runs, you can upgrade various weapons and pieces of equipment, apply skill boosts, and choose which mission to head to next. I also like that you can hang out with your team and I played a few missions with a friendly chum just today; that was fun! Anyway, the miners come in 4 different classes and each one can be customised with collectible cosmetic items so you can really make your favourite character your own. Of course, experimenting with what each class is capable of as you try out different upgrades and strategies is very rewarding and you may just be surprised by what you can be capable of. ⛏️

I'm hangin' and shootin' like a champ

I'm happy I decided to play Deep Rock Galactic again, especially after enjoying the incredibly fun Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor earlier this year which actually borrows a lot of elements from this original title; neat! Anyhoo, have fun mining and perhaps I'll see you down there, chum! 💎
