If you didn’t know, Andy welcomed his son, Benjamin, back in 2019, followed by his daughter, Lucy, in 2022.
And for years, the Watch What Happens Live host has been super open about how he navigates parenthood.
This week, Andy found himself discussing the subject of babysitting with his longtime friend Jeff Lewis.
Speaking candidly on Monday’s episode of SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live, the Bravo star revealed that he pays his 23-year-old babysitter $30 an hour, which Jeff called “cheap.”
“That sounds cheap to me. Especially from someone with your money,” said Jeff of Andy, who is a multimillionaire with an estimated net worth of $50 million.
“She was there for two hours, and you gave her 60 bucks? Did that even cover the cab?” Jeff quipped.
Andy then noted that he recently paid his babysitter $70 for two hours and 15 minutes of her time. Jeff added, “I probably would’ve given her 100 for two hours, two kids.”
Meanwhile, Jeff noted that he pays his babysitter $37 an hour to watch his daughter, Monroe, who is 9.
Some people felt that Jeff was right to jokingly call Andy out. “I actually like that Jeff points out how rich Andy is as he tries to relate to us normies,” one Reddit user said, while another suggested that $30 per hour seemed low “for big expensive cities like NYC, and especially for celeb kids.”
But on the flip side, others argued that $30 per hour was pretty well paid. “When I babysat, I got between $5 and $10 an hour. This was obviously a long time ago, and I was in my early teens. Babysitting was getting them dinner, playing a craft or game, and getting them ready for bed. Even by today’s standards, I can’t imagine paying more than $30 an hour (or even $30). It seems like the term babysitter is being conflated with nanny,” someone said.
