The 1964 Corvette hasn’t always gotten the appreciation it deserves from the enthusiast world.

Maybe that’s because it followed the iconic 1963 split-window coupe. Or perhaps it’s because the monster 427 big-block didn’t arrive until later in the C2’s run.

Whatever the reason, this absolutely beautiful resto-mod takes care of both of those concerns, leaving very little excuse to overlook this second-year Sting Ray.

Currently being offered on Bring a Trailer, this 1964 Corvette coupe combines the coveted appearance of a ’63 split-window with a fuel-injected BluePrint 427 LS V8 producing a dyno-proven 638 horsepower.

And if that isn’t enough, there’s a five-speed manual transmission waiting between the seats.

Bidding had already reached $75,000 with seven days remaining at the time of this writing. Where’s my checkbook, honey?

This isn’t just an engine swap and a new coat of paint, either. It’s essentially a modern performance car wrapped in one of Chevrolet’s most beautiful bodies.

The Corvette was acquired by its previous owner in 2020 and subsequently underwent an extensive transformation. The fiberglass body was converted to a 1963-style split rear window and fitted with a ’63-style hood before being refinished in gorgeous Midnight Blue Metallic in 2024. Is it just me, or does it look dark blue in some photos and black in others?

Other exterior upgrades include Kindig-It recessed door handles, flush-mounted glass, Detroit Speed electric flip-up headlights and LED lighting.

Underneath, the original-style C2 chassis is long gone.

In its place is an SRIII tubular frame carrying C7-spec independent front and rear suspension, C7 four-wheel disc brakes and power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering.

Schott Challenger eXL wheels — 18 inches up front and 20 inches in the rear — wear Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires measuring 235/40/18 and a meaty 305/30/20, respectively.

But the real fun is under that long blue (or black) hood.

A BluePrint 427 LS crate engine was installed in 2024, featuring a cast-iron block, LS3-style aluminum heads, Holley Sniper fuel injection, a Holley fabricated intake, headers and custom air intake.

The retro-style coil-pack covers help give the modern LS a more traditional appearance befitting a 1964 Corvette.

On the dyno, the combination produced an impressive 638 horsepower and 606 lb-ft of torque.

A Tremec TKX five-speed manual sends that power through a Dynotech driveshaft to the rear wheels. The drivetrain also includes a billet-steel flywheel and dual-disc clutch, while a Flowmaster exhaust system handles the soundtrack.

The transformation continues inside.

Ferrari Rosso leather covers the aftermarket bucket seats, complemented by matching red door panels and carpeting. There’s also Vintage Air conditioning, power windows, a Custom Autosound stereo with Kenwood speakers, an SKX short-throw shifter and a custom center console.

A leather-wrapped steering wheel sits in front of period-look AutoMeter gauges, while polished runners dress up the rear cargo area.

The digital odometer shows about 1,300 miles, said to represent the distance traveled since completion of the build. Total chassis mileage is unknown.

Interestingly, this Corvette didn’t start life looking anything like it does today. Its trim tag indicates it originally left St. Louis wearing Silver Blue paint with white and blue vinyl upholstery.

It also isn’t the first time we’ve seen this car.

The Corvette previously sold on Bring a Trailer in July and has now returned to the auction site, being offered in California on consignment through Wob Cars. Naturally, its quick return has generated some discussion among commenters.

Whatever the reason for the resale, it’s hard to argue with the finished product.

One commenter summed it up in just two words: “Custom Corvette perfection!”

Another called it “drop dead gorgeous.”

We wouldn’t argue with either assessment.

The original 1964 Corvette may have lost the split rear window after just one year, and buyers couldn’t order a 427 from Chevrolet yet.

This one fixes both of those “problems” — then throws in 638 horsepower, a five-speed, C7 suspension and brakes for good measure.

Maybe the ’64 doesn’t have to live in the ’63’s shadow after all.
