Coronation Street's Sean Wilson is married.

The actor, 61 – who played Martin Platt in the ITV soap from 1985 until 2005, and had a cameo in 2018 – and Carol Hammond married in a countryside wedding over the weekend, after which he made a barb about 'real friends'.

In pictures from their nuptials, posted on Facebook, Sean sported a dark blue suit and orange waistcoat, while Carol wowed in her white wedding dress.

An accompanying caption on the pictures read: 'Guess what we did this weekend... A July wedding. Brought me my gorgeous Mrs Wilson. We had a Gospel choir. And a church full of legendary (real) friends. If we did it all again, it couldn't be better'.

Another shot showed the couple as they kissed outside of a church as she held onto a bouquet filled with sunflowers, white flowers, greenery, and little blue accents.

Sean and Carol – who had dated since 2019 – beamed with joy in a third image as they sat in the back of a cream vintage car.

Fans rushed to the comments section to congratulate the couple, as users penned: 'Congratulations Mr + Mrs Wilson. Wishing you both many many years of happiness xx (sic)...

'Aww congratulations. You both look amazing. Hope you had a beautiful day... Wonderful, happy news.. congratulations (sic).'

In 2024, Sean – who was previously in a relationship with Susie Fenwick – was set to return to Corrie as Martin Platt and reunite with his on-screen wife Helen Worth for her alter ego Gail Platt's departure from Weatherfield on Christmas Day.

He had already filmed scenes with Helen, before he was told he was being axed from the show pending the police inquiry into an allegation of indecent assault from 1997 – yet was not told any of the details.

He was cleared by police shortly after, with authorities reportedly saying no further action would be taken over the claim – which was made by a woman with links to the soap.

Speaking to The Sun, Sean said: 'My reputation was ruined in just eight minutes — my whole world blown apart. I had no idea who had made this complaint or anything about it but I lost my job. It's been hell. I've been low all the way through.'

After his departure, the storyline was scrapped and the plot was reworked, with Gail departing for France with her new husband Jesse Chadwick (John Thomson).

In January 2025, he was quoted by the Daily Star newspaper's Hot TV column as saying: 'I didn't watch [the scenes I was replaced in]. I was away in Africa for Christmas. I'm trying to get back to normal. It's a case of taking each day at a time.'

Sean hopes that the circumstances surrounding his sudden departure from Coronation Street do not have an adverse effect on his acting career.

He said: 'We are hoping everything that's happened won't affect my career. My agent and I are working hard on trying to create a continuing stream of work. We are trying to find our feet again.

'I'm not the one levering any situation. I'm an actor, and if people come and knock on my agent's door, I listen to them.'

After Coronation Street, Sean went on to embark on a cheesemaking career, he launched a cheese business called Artisan Farm in 2009 before going on to write a number of recipe books.
