Vicky Myers has announced she is set to get married in real life just months after her Coronation Street character tied the knot on screen.

The soap star, 50, plays DS Lisa Connor-Swain on the ITV series and she married Carla Connor (Alison King) in the show's first female same-sex wedding.

But off screen, Vicky revealed she is also settling down with her secret boyfriend, who does not appear on her social media.

Vicky shared the news in response to a troll who was accusing her of keeping her partner hidden and out of the public spotlight.

In response to a now deleted tweet, Vicky wrote: 'He's actually my fiancé.'

It is the first time that Vicky has clarified whether she is in a relationship and fans shared their delight at her happy news.

One fan wrote: 'That's really lovely. I wish you all the happiness in the world.'

A second said: 'This is adorable, congratulations, ignore the hate hope we get to see you in your dress,' adding heart eye emojis. A third added: 'Never feel you have to explain yourself to anyone but this is the best news so excited for you.'

Vicky's on-screen marriage ran into all sorts of issues when they almost had to cancel their nuptials when the venue cancelled at the last minute.

They managed to salvage the day by altering the plans to marry at Underworld.

Speaking about the calamitous day with Digital Spy: 'It's something that Ryan says, that Carla had said to him.

'It's basically about how Carla just wants to marry Lisa. Any hour, any venue will do! And that sets something off in Lisa. She realises, well, we don't need all of this big fuss, which Carla didn't particularly want anyway.

'It was more about the intimacy between the two of them.'

Vicky has also appeared in several other TV shows over the years including Ackley Bridge, Casualty and Unforgotten.

Earlier this year, fans were left in shock after learning Vicky's real age and begged her to 'drop the secret' to her youthful appearance.

Vicky shared an Instagram post to mark her milestone 50th birthday at the start of the year.

Fans in the comment section wished the star a happy birthday, with many left incredulous to learn her actual age claiming 'you don't look a day like 50.'

A fan raced to write below: 'Everything is so deserved your the best role model, actress and woman ever! So humble so down to earth, simply with the biggest heart.

'You don’t look a day like 50 - more like 30 and we do need your secret for it please!

'I hope you had the best day, I love supporting you and thank you for everything

'You’re the absolute best and so so gorgeous! Love the nature pic as well ✨.'

The English actress has been a soap fixture since 1998, and is also known for various TV roles such as The Five, Age Before Beauty, Ackley Bridge and The Long Shadow.
