In this guide, we'll tell you how Dragon Shelter farming works and how to use the various farming equipment such as awnings, sprinklers, your dragons, and more!

Awnings are required for cops that need shade to grow. An Awning covers a 3x3 area, occupying the center space. How Dragon Shelter Farming Works

Generally speaking, Dragon Shelter farming works much like it does in other Farming RPGs; you must till soil with a shovel, plant seeds appropriate for the season, and water them every day. That said, there are some special elements to farming in this particular game.

The Water Dragon Waters Plants

The Water Dragon is the first dragon you'll get, and it has a useful ability: it can use its Element Force to water regular crops. If it runs out of Element Force, you'll need to recharge its Element Force with a Joy or an appropriate food item, such as a Water Flower.

Elemental Plant Beds

Each dragon has the ability to transform plant beds into a special elemental bed. For example, the Water Dragon makes Water Beds, the Fire Dragon makes Fire Beds, and so on. Transforming a bed requires the dragon to use some Element Force once.

Once a bed has been transformed, it will stay tilled and transformed forever. You can then plant special crops in these fields, but there's one more step to worry about: watering them.

Plants in elemental beds are not "watered," per se. Rather, the associated dragon must use its Element Force to tend to the plant: the Water Dragon spits water on water plants, the Fire Dragon spits fire on fire plants, and so on.

Dragons can typically handle no more than 9 or so fields without needing to recharge their Element Force. If you till more than that, make sure you have enough items on hand to recharge your dragon's Element Force!

Sprinklers

Sprinklers are very difficult to get in Dragon Shelter; you won't be able to build them until you've begun raising livestock on your farm. Furthermore, the first Sprinkler only waters in a cross pattern, so each sprinkler can only cover 4 tiles.

On the upside, the Sprinklers in this game have an advantage over some other Farming RPGs: the sprinklers work continuously throughout the day. If you decide you want to move a Sprinkler or plant something later in the day, you won't have to manually water it as long as a sprinkler is in place.

Awnings

Awnings cover a 3x3 area, with the awning occupying the center space. This means one Awning can cover a total of 8 crops. Awnings are needed for plants that require Shade.

Greenhouses

Much like Awnings, Greenhouses are placed over tilled fields on the farm; they allow you to grow crops from any season underneath the Greenhouse.

I haven't been able to unlock Greenhouses yet, so I can't say for certain how they work. That said, I suspect that a single Greenhouse will cover a 3x3 area.
