CZJ's take on each decade's beauty trends.
Few people have a beauty archive quite as lethal as Catherine Zeta-Jones. Since her breakout in the 1990s, the actress has set trends and gifted us with hair and makeup inspo every decade for the past 40 years. Whether you've followed CZJ since she was first sprouting in British comedy, The Darling Buds of May, got on board when she went global in the Mask of Zorro, jumped in with her ‘90s romcoms (or her noughties romcoms for that matter), showed up for Chicago, locked in for her rendition of Wednesday’s mum, Morticia, or are deep into her latest spin as on-the-run former cocaine dealer, Jackie Price, in Kill Jackie, Catherine Zeta Jones has been serving up top tier looks since before some of us were even born.
She's taken on the nineties skinny brows and grungy colour palette, the noughties side fringe and heavy liner, the 2010s cut crease eyeshadow and the 2020s dark feminine energy. Through it all, Catherine has remained true to an old-school level of glamour that feels equal parts vintage and timeless.
Below we've rounded up some of our favourite beauty looks to save for our next glam occasion.
The 1990s saw CZJ start-out in the industry, and become a household name in the UK, courtesy of The Darling Buds of May. Before we knew Catherine as Elena from Zorro or Wednesday Adam's mum, the triple threat actress, singer and dancer released a song, For All Time, in 1992 (before reminding us a decade later what a top tier singer she is when she took on her Oscar-winning role of Velma Kelly in Chicago).
In the music video, Catherine gave us one very vintage 1940s inspired-look with side-flipped Hollywood curls and a red lip, and one very modern ‘90s look with a graphic half updo bun on top of her head, sheer ’90s grungy eyeshadow and '90s chunky French tip nails.

For the Men In Black premiere in 1997 she wore her hair in signature ‘90s face-framing layers, while for the Mask of Zorro premiere, she paid homage to her latin character Elena with a low flamenco bun. She kept the ’90s influence with her sheer smoky eye.
