Two undefeated teams clash Sunday when the Las Vegas Raiders host the Kansas City Chiefs at Allegiant Stadium.
The Raiders are coming off a 35-27 come-from-behind win at New Orleans and have already matched their win total from last season. Tight end Brock Bowers made his season debut last week and sparked the offense with 10 catches for 116 yards and a touchdown.
After an injury-plagued 2025, the Chiefs are back among the AFC’s elite with quarterback Patrick Mahomes healthy and running back Kenneth Walker III providing a new dimension to the offense.
The winner will be alone in first place in the AFC West.
Here is what happened:
The Raiders did not, in fact, win the game as Klint Kubiak predicted at halftime.
A last-ditch drive ended with a Kirk Cousins interception. The Raiders made too many mistakes and allowed 20 points in the fourth quarter to lose to the Kansas City Chiefs, falling to 3-1 on the season.

Kirk Cousins avoids a sack and scrambles to his right then finds Brock Bowers in the end zone for a 20-yard touchdown. What a play.
The two-point conversion is good from Cousins to Cody White and it’s a one-score game. The Raiders sure would like to have those three points from the third quarter.
Chiefs 30, Raiders 27, 1:46 remaining 4th quarter
Chiefs capitalize on fumbleThe Raiders fumbled the ensuing kickoff and one player later Kenneth Walker III soared into the end zone for a 22-yard touchdown run.
The game goes over the total and it’s been a disastrous fourth quarter for the home team.
Chiefs 30, Raiders 19, 3:02 remaining 4th quarter
Chiefs punch it inAfter a long delay for Tyquan Thornton’s injury, Kenneth Walker III waltzed into the end zone to put the Chiefs back on top.
Chiefs 23, Raiders 19, 3:21 remaining 4th quarter
Thornton injuredTyquan Thornton hauled in a 55-yard pass from Patrick Mahomes down to the Raiders’ 5-yard line, but it appears he suffered a serious leg injury at the end of the play.
Raiders 19, Chiefs 17, 3:25 remaining 4th quarter
Gay gives Raiders leadThe Raiders had to settle for another field goal, but this one gives them the lead.
Matt Gay’s fourth field goal of the game is from 48 yards.
Raiders 19, Chiefs 17, 4:53 remaining 4th quarter
Raiders tack on FGThis time the field goal stays on the board. Matt Gay is good from 44 yards. Those three points are looming large right now, however.
Chiefs 17, Raiders 16, 11:12 remaining 4th quarter
Chiefs take leadTyquan Thornton finds a soft spot in the Raiders secondary and hauls in his second TD reception of the game from Patrick Mahomes. This one goes for 8 yards and was set up by the long run by Kenneth Walker III at the end of the third quarter.
Chiefs 17, Raiders 13, 14:50 remaining 4th quarter
End of 3rd quarterNeither offense was able to do much after the Raiders took the points off the board early in the third quarter until Kenneth Walker III exploded for 77 yards on the final play of the quarter for Kansas City.
The Chiefs have the ball deep in Raiders territory at the start of the fourth quarter.
Raiders 13, Chiefs 10
Raiders take points off boardMatt Gay nailed a 41-yard field goal, but after a penalty the Raiders decided to go for it on fourth-and-2. Kirk Cousins’ pass fell incomplete and the Raiders turn it over on downs.
Raiders 13, Chiefs 10, 11:32 remaining 3rd quarter
Kubiak: ‘We’re going to win the game’Raiders coach Klint Kubiak was fired up during his halftime interview with CBS and made a bold prediction.
“We’re going to win the game,” he said.
Raiders lead at halftimeAided by a defensive holding penalty and a 17-yard pass to Michael Mayer, the Raiders were able to set up Matt Gay for a 48-yard field goal as time expired.
The Raiders will get the ball to start the third quarter, too.
Raiders 13, Chiefs 10, halftime
Chiefs hit tying FGThe Chiefs’ drive stalled in the red zone after Tyquan Thornton got behind Raiders rookie cornerback Hezekiah Masses for a 42-yard reception.
Harrison Butker boots it through from 28 yards to tie the score.
Raiders 10, Chiefs 10, 1:22 remaining 2nd quarter
Raiders regain leadAfter a lengthy drive, the Raiders had to settle for a 32-yard field goal by Matt Gay.
The drive lasted 15 plays and 8:00 before stalling out. It was aided by an unnecessary roughness penalty against Chiefs defensive back Nohl Williams, who clobbered Jalen Nailor over the middle.
Nailor looked to be shaken up after the hit.
Raiders 10, Chiefs, 7, 3:19 remaining 2nd quarter
Rice heads to locker roomChiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice, who was injured on Kansas City’s second drive, is questionable with a hamstring injury.
End of 1st quarterThe Raiders and Chiefs traded touchdowns and we’re knotted up after 15 minutes.
Raiders 7, Chiefs 7
Chiefs answer with TDPatrick Mahomes found Xavier Worthy for a 41-yard gain on third-and-10 deep into Raiders territory. After two runs went nowhere, Mahomes then hit Tyquan Thornton in the right flat for a 2-yard touchdown and we’re all tied up.
The play looked like “Corn Dog,” which the Chiefs ran in overtime to win the Super Bowl against the San Francisco 49ers at Allegiant Stadium in 2024.
Kansas City went 69 yards in 10 plays, using 5:47 off the clock.
Raiders 7, Chiefs 7, 2:23 remaining 1st quarter
Raiders grab early leadThe Raiders took advantage of the field position after the Chiefs turned it over on downs and marched down the field in four plays for the game’s first score.
Kirk Cousins rolled to his right and threw back to Ian Thomas along the left sideline for a 27-yard touchdown.
Raiders 7, Chiefs 0, 10:26 remaining 1st quarter
Raiders stop Chiefs on 4th downA Kansas City penalty led to a redo on a punt, and Chiefs punter Matt Araiza saw an opening and took it to get a first down. But the Raiders stuffed Kenneth Walker III on a fourth-down play and will take over near midfield.
Raiders 0, Chiefs 0, 10:26 remaining 1st quarter
Raiders kick offThe Raiders won the toss and deferred to the second half. Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs get the ball to start.
Bowers will go despite illnessLas Vegas Raiders star tight end Brock Bowers is now dealing with more than just the knee injury that cost him the first two games of the season.
He will still play in the battle for first place in the AFC West against the Kansas City Chiefs despite being added to the injury report on Sunday morning with an illness.
Bowers returned to the lineup last week and had 10 catches for 116 yards and a touchdown less than three weeks after undergoing a procedure on his knee.
He was listed as a limited participant in practice on Friday because of the knee injury, but it appeared to be more of a management plan in his recovery.
The only significant injury the Raiders are currently dealing with is to starting right guard Jackson Powers-Johnson, who will miss the game with a groin issue that forced him out of last week’s win over the Saints in the fourth quarter.
The Raiders will have quarterback Aidan O’Connell back and available on Sunday to serve in an emergency capacity.
Defensive tackle Jonah Laulu, cornerback Darrell Luter Jr. and safety Tristin McCollum will also be inactive for the game.

QB returnsQuarterback Aidan O’Connell is back with the Raiders and will be available for the game against the Kansas City Chiefs.
O’Connell is expected to serve as the emergency quarterback.
He has been away from the team for two weeks mourning the death of his father in Illinois. He had been listed as questionable for the game, but that tag has been removed.

Last meetingJan. 4, 2026 — Daniel Carlson hit a 60-yard field goal in the final seconds to lift the Raiders to a 14-12 victory in the season finale.
It was Carlson’s fourth field goal of the game in what was his final game with the franchise.
Chris Oladokun and Shane Buechele combined for 146 passing yards and were sacked eight times in place of an injured Patrick Mahomes, including once in the end zone for a safety.
Charles Snowden, Tyree Wilson and Tonka Hemingway each had two sacks for the Raiders, who had already secured the top pick in the draft.
