The competitive AFC West battle between the Las Vegas Raiders and the Kansas City Chiefs last Sunday at Allegiant Stadium was ratings gold for CBS.
The battle of 3-0 teams was the most-watched Week 4 game on any channel in NFL history, drawing a record 28.45 million viewers, CBS announced on Tuesday. Additionally, it was the most watched game this season on any network.
The record viewership saw a competitive game where the Raiders had a chance to win, only to come up just shy of a win after quaterback Kirk Cousins threw a game-ending interception late in the fourth quarter. The Chiefs took the game 30-27. The Raiders recorded their first loss of the season, while the Chiefs improved to 4-0 and are the only undefeated team left in the AFC.
The NFL on CBS is averaging 19.88 million views this season, a nine percent increase ahead of last year’s record-setting mark, according to Neilsen Big Data+Panel.
CBS must’ve saw the interest coming, as they shifted its No. 1 broadcast team of Jim Nance, J.J. Watt and T racy Wolfson to call the game last Sunday.
The Raiders are away this week, playing the New England Patriots at Gillete Stadium. The game airs at 10 a.m. PT on CBS.
