BOSTON, MASS. — Family-owned frozen food company Unrefined Foods has unveiled a new frozen breakfast muffin brand.

Inspired by homemade baking, the frozen muffins are made with organic, stone-milled whole grains and are sweetened with preservative-free maple syrup. The company said its grains are stone milled fresh, keeping the bran and germ intact and retaining its naturally occurring nutrients, fiber and rich flavor.

 “Fresh-milled whole grains are a completely different food,” said Melissa Bermudez, co-founder of Unrefined Foods. “If we baked our muffins with the whole wheat flour on grocery shelves, they’d taste like cardboard. Ours taste good because the grain is fresh.”

The new frozen products come in three flavors: banana bread, cinnamon swirl and loaded blueberry. They are all available for delivery across the United States through the Unrefined Foods website while New England-based customers may pick them up at regional locations.
