The rebuilt 150 railway line is undergoing testing under real traffic conditions, with daily freight traffic, before passenger services can resume.

All measurements and track tests have confirmed that

the line meets the necessary infrastructure and transport safety requirements for freight train operations.

Those living in the area have long been accustomed to trains not running on the track. However, from now on, rail vehicles will once again arrive regularly and at high speed on the line.

Passengers have also been warned not to cross the railway line out of habit. It is important that everyone approaches level crossings with complete compliance with traffic regulations and due care!

The renovation of railway line 150 was the largest railway investment in Hungary in recent years. The old, single-track railway line, which ran for 160 km from Ferencváros to the Hungarian-Serbian border station in Kelebia, was replaced with a double-track line capable of speeds of up to 160 km/h. The first train to travel on the new line, a few minutes after midnight, was an MÁV Railtours freight train headed by a Siemens Vectron locomotive which had arrived as part of the locomotive renewal programme.

In 2020, the Hungarian government has classified the contract, feasibility study, and financial details of the $1.855 billion-$2+ billion Budapest-Belgrade railway project for 10 years. The lack of transparency has led to concerns regarding corruption and the project's economic viability, with estimates suggesting a payback period of up to 2400 years.
