The Ringer’s Bill Simmons is rapidly losing faith in the New England Patriots. After entering the season with legitimate Super Bowl aspirations after making it that far last year, the Patriots dropped to 1-2 after losing 35-6 to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.

Simmons, who has already questioned whether “Post-Sedona Mike Vrabel” has lost his touch following the scandal between Vrabel and Dianna Russini that dominated the NFL offseason, revealed a text he received from his father during Week 3 on the latest episode of his podcast.

“I think Dianna Russini ruined our season,” Simmons’ dad wrote.

While he might be blaming Russini, Simmons’ father isn’t absolving young quarterback Drake Maye, who has struggled immensely so far this season and threw two interceptions and zero touchdowns against the Jaguars.

“‘Should we try [Tommy] DeVito?’ Dead serious,” Simmons said his dad asked. “And then, sadly near the end, he said, he looked at me and he goes, ‘You know, it was so exciting to have a franchise quarterback, even if it was only for one year.’”

For what it’s worth, the Simmons aren’t the only ones concerned with how the Patriots season is going.

Vrabel told media members that his level of concern for this year’s team is “very high” after Sunday’s loss.

Vrabel also touched on Maye’s struggles to protect the ball, as his quarterback has thrown six interceptions in three games.

“I try to talk to him about taking the ball and putting it where it’s supposed to go. I think he knows what to do,” Vrabel said. “I think we have to do it better. We all want to make plays, we just have to make good ones. And if it’s not there, we have to make a great decision. I think sometimes you can want it too badly, but we can’t force anything.”
