The Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games bring the continental multisport event to Japan after a gap of 32 years. Top athletes from across Asia will compete for 16 days, from September 19 to October 4, 2026. While China, Japan and South Korea have remained the most dominant and strongest sporting nations in the history of the event, India is carrying the hopes of more than 1.4 billion people with a 492-member athlete contingent competing across several sports.

Hockey, shooting, badminton, boxing, wrestling, archery, kabaddi and cricket are among the other key sports for India. Overall, athletics has the biggest representation from India, with 73 athletes who will fight for medals. From top stars such as Neeraj Chopra in javelin, P.V. Sindhu in badminton, Manu Bhaker in shooting and Lovlina Borgohain in boxing, India's contingent has not only Olympic medallists but also emerging stars such as Ayush Shetty in badminton, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi in cricket, Anahat Singh in squash and Antim Panghal in wrestling. India will be aiming to cross its best-ever Asian Games medal tally of 107 medals, achieved in Hangzhou in 2022, which included 28 gold, 38 silver and 41 bronze. It was also the first time India crossed the 100-medal mark at the Asian Games. Moreover, India finished fourth in the overall standings, which was also a huge achievement and announced to the world that India's glory days in sports are about to get better from now on.
