The visitors actually hit City early with a good opening goal, which was soon matched by a Gareth Andrew goal from the second phase of a penalty corner and it remained 1-1 at the end of the first quarter.

On 24 minutes Joe Finding scored a classic penalty corner and on 46 minutes Zak Scotting scored a field goal, which was topped off by a Danny Needham strike to complete the scoring.

Bourne Deeping’s strong start to the Men’s East Division Two season continued with a 9-0 thumping of St Neots.

Will Portlock and Charlie Butler both scored twice with Ben Brittain, Dylan Parker, Thomas Fowkes, Archie Mahan and Alessandro Vardaro also on target.

Simon Burnell, Matt Goodwin and Jason Purllant scored as Bourne Deeping thirds claimed their first Division Four win of the season, 3-1 over St Ives, while

Richard Gray, Paul Blackler and Kevin Baker netted as the club’s fourth team opened their Division Six campaign with a 3-3 draw at Wisbech.

And Theon Collins was the matchwinner as Bourne Deeping’s Development team won 1-0 over St Ives in the same section.

Bourne Deeping Ladies made it two wins from two in Division Two with a 5-0 romp at St Ives to sit top of the table ahead of City of Peterborough thirds and Cambridge City fifths who have also won their opening two games.
