Did you forget to see Ridley Scott’s The Dog Stars in IMAX? Hard to believe, if so! How could you miss it? But the good news is that you’ll soon be able to watch The Dog Stars at home, because the film is coming to digital platforms to buy and rent tomorrow.

This post-apocalyptic thriller, directed by Scott, was written by Mark L. Smith (The Revenant, Twisters), who adapted the story from Peter Heller’s 2012 novel of the same name. The film takes place after a worldwide pandemic (sound familiar?) that has nearly wiped out all of humankind. The survivors who remain are dangerous, and must fight to survive.

Jacob Elordi stars as the protagonist Hig, an ex-pilot who loves his dog. Classic! Hig and his buddy Bangley (Josh Brolin) decide to take off together in search of a better place to live. He eventually teams up with a young medic named Cima (Margaret Qualley).

The Dog Stars bombed at the box office, failing to earn back even half of its estimated production budget. But maybe the film will find new life on digital. That said, before you spend $25 to watch The Dog Stars at home, you should know we do expect to see The Dog Stars streaming on Hulu eventually.

The Dog Stars movie will be released on premium video-on-demand—to buy on digital platforms like Amazon Prime, Apple TV, Fandango At Home, and more —on Tuesday, October 27, at 12 a.m. Eastern Time (which is also October 26 at 9 p.m. Pacific Time). The price may vary depending on which platform you use to purchase the film, but on Amazon Prime, the movie costs $24.99 to buy.

The Dog Stars DVD release date has not yet been announced.

The Dog Stars will likely stream on Hulu in the U.S. eventually, free to those with a Hulu subscription. The Dog Stars is a 20th Century Studios release, which is a studio that is owned by Disney. While some 20th Century films go to Disney+, most end up on the more adult-friendly streamer Hulu, which is also owned by Disney. Because The Dog Stars is a R-rated movie for adults, and because Disney+ is geared toward children, our guess would be that The Dog Stars will come to Hulu only.

If you’re new to Hulu, the basic (with ads) price is $11.99/month. If you want to upgrade to Hulu ad-free, it costs $18.99/month.

If you want to stream even more and save a few bucks a month while you’re at it, we recommend subscribing to one of the Disney+ Bundles, all of which include Hulu. These bundles start at $12.99/month for ad-supported Disney+ and Hulu and goes up to $32.99/month for Disney+, Hulu, and Max, all ad-free.

You might see The Dog Stars streaming on Hulu around December 2026.

The Dog Stars Hulu streaming release date has not yet been announced, but we can make an educated guess as to when The Dog Stars will stream on Hulu based on previous releases from 20th Century.

Send Help, another 20th Century movie, was released on Hulu in the U.S. a little over three months after opening in theaters, and a little over one month after releasing on digital. If The Dog Stars follows a similar release pattern, the movie might stream on Hulu (and possibly Disney+, too) around late November or early December 2026—in other words, a little over three months after the movie opened in theaters.

This is all speculation. If you want to see the The Dog Stars movie ASAP, you can buy the film on digital platforms tomorrow.
