BEIJING, September 21. /TASS/. China congratulates Russia on the successful State Duma elections, saying the outcome reflects the will of the Russian people, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Guo Jiakun said.

"The elections to Russia’s State Duma were successfully held, and China congratulates Russia on this occasion. The State Duma elections are an important event in Russia’s political life, and the outcome reflects the will of the Russian people," he said at a briefing.

Guo added that China, "as Russia’s friendly neighbor and partner in comprehensive strategic cooperation in the new era, firmly supports the choice independently made by the Russian people."
