There’s a new original movie streaming today on Apple TV: a new action-comedy called Mayday, starring Ryan Reynolds and Kenneth Branagh.

Streaming for free with an Apple TV subscription, Mayday sees Troy (Reynolds) infiltrate Russian territory amidst the Cold War. Ex-KGB agent Nikolai (Branagh) becomes an unlikely ally in this caper.

Troy thinks he is going to be captured and killed, but Nikolai is sympathetic to American culture and he helps get Troy out of the country. Mayday is a twist on all the usual tropes of Cold War thrillers, with a lot of references to the cliches found in 1980s flicks like Top Gun.

If you’re looking for a Fun Friday night action comedy, Mayday just might be it, especially if you like the Ryan Reynolds shtick. The movie is getting good critical reviews too, with 84% on Rotten Tomatoes right now.

Mayday is streaming now on Apple TV. You can watch using the Apple TV app available on iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Mac, Android, Windows, Roku, Amazon Fire Stick, Xbox, PlayStation and more. You can also watch in a web browser at tv.apple.com.

Mayday is the latest Apple original film, joining a catalog of over 330 original TV show and movie titles on the service.

Also coming this month is new drama Last Seen, Slow Horses season 6, and new comedy series Brothers. Other notable upcoming film releases include Matchbox and Tenzing, debuting in October.
