Update Oct. 26, 2026

Clayface held off Elizabeth Holmes at the box office, but just barely.

Warner Bros. and DC Studios’ body-horror origin story opened to $24 million at No. 1, with another $19 million overseas bringing its global start to $43 million. Audiences were warmer than critics, handing James Watkins’ film an A-minus CinemaScore against a 75% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 59 on Metacritic.

You Can See Everything finished just $4.5 million behind with $19.5 million, up 25% from its opening after expanding from 855 theaters to 2,655. A24’s Elizabeth Holmes documentary has now made $45.1 million in 10 days.

Wildwood was the weekend’s real surprise, opening to $11.6 million against tracking that topped out at $10 million. Travis Knight’s stop-motion fantasy took an A CinemaScore and holds a perfect 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, and it roughly doubled the opening of Laika’s last film, 2019’s Missing Link. Every Laika feature to date has landed an Oscar nomination.

Street Fighter fell hard in fourth with $8.6 million, a 72% drop that leaves Paramount’s video game adaptation at $46.9 million domestically.

Wicker rounded out the top five with $5.8 million, the best opening yet for Black Bear. Olivia Colman and Alexander Skarsgård’s romance drew a 95% on Rotten Tomatoes, which bodes well for the weeks ahead.

Elsewhere, Taika Waititi’s Klara and the Sun collapsed with $725,000 after Sony pulled back its release in the face of reviews that left it at 24% on Rotten Tomatoes. Bleecker Street’s A Talent for Murder, with Helen Mirren as Patricia Highsmith, took in $717,864. And Netflix’s La Bola Negra held steady with $245,000 in its second weekend of limited release, bringing its total to $650,000 before it expands further ahead of its Dec. 2 streaming date.

Here are the final box office totals for the top five over the Oct. 23-25 weekend:

  1. Clayface — $24 million
  2. You Can See Everything — $19.5 million
  3. Wildwood — $11.6 million
  4. Street Fighter — $8.6 million
  5. Wicker — $5.8 million
Original story Oct. 22, 2026

Clayface is heading for a box-office No. 1, but Nathan Fielder and Elizabeth Holmes aren’t making it easy.

Warner Bros. and DC Studios’ R-rated body-horror origin story is tracking for $22 million to $30 million from 3,400 theaters, with another $20 million to $25 million expected overseas. James Watkins directs from a script by Mike Flanagan and Hossein Amini, and it’s the third theatrical release of James Gunn’s DC Universe after Supergirl underwhelmed this summer.

It won’t have the weekend to itself. A24 is expanding You Can See Everything from 855 theaters to roughly 2,600, and Fielder and Lance Oppenheim’s buzzy documentary is tracking for $20 million to $25 million. That would mark an increase over its $15.6 million opening, a rarity for any film in its second weekend. The doc has made $20.8 million domestically so far.

Street Fighter should land in third with $8 million to $13 million in its sophomore frame after opening to $31 million.

Wildwood follows with $6 million to $10 million. Laika’s first feature since 2019 arrives through Fathom Entertainment at 100% on Rotten Tomatoes and an 85 on Metacritic, making it one of the best-reviewed movies of the fall season.

Other Mommy and Sense and Sensibility round out the chase for the final spot, both looking at roughly $4 million.

A busy slate opens outside the top five. Black Bear’s Wicker stars Olivia Colman, Alexander Skarsgård, Elizabeth Debicki, and Peter Dinklage. Bleecker Street’s A Talent for Murder has Helen Mirren as Patricia Highsmith in a role the studio is campaigning for Best Actress. Sacha Baron Cohen’s Ali G: Who Iz I?, as does Taika Waititi’s Klara and the Sun with Jenna Ortega. And Netflix opens Possible Love in limited release — Lee Chang-dong’s drama is South Korea’s official Oscar entry.

Here are Gold Derby’s predicted box-office rankings for the top five over the Oct. 23-25 weekend:

  1. Clayface — $25 million
  2. You Can See Everything — $21 million
  3. Street Fighter — $11 million
  4. Wildwood — $7 million
  5. Sense and Sensibility — $4 million
