A mother and son were both killed by an alleged drunk driver just minutes after a Florida police officer pulled the driver over before ultimately letting him go.
De Lawn Marshall Duncan, 51, and Eric Derick Maurice McGill, 31, were killed near the intersection of SE Maricamp Road and SE 36th Avenue in Ocala on Tuesday.
The driver who crashed the car is currently in critical condition and has been taken to the hospital, while his younger brother, who sat in the passenger seat, faces minor injuries.
On September 29, a pair of brothers were stopped and questioned by Ocala police while they were arguing.
Body-camera footage shows the brothers making contact with police officers as their minivan was stopped in the middle of the road.
At the beginning of the interaction, one of the brothers shouted, ‘I told you not to get in that car, I told you not to,’ at his brother.
The officer asked: ‘Have you two been drinking?’
The older brother, who was behind the wheel, said: ‘I will automatically admit that.’
While pointing at his younger brother, he added: ‘It's my birthday today, and he drank a little bit more than he was supposed to drink, and that's all it was.’
‘Can we go home? Can I take him home?’ the older brother said to the officer.

The officer responded by saying: ‘Y'all are good to go; y'all can get on out.’
The Ocala Police Department has now launched an investigation into the details of the incident following the two deaths.
The investigation is set to last roughly four weeks.
The main officer involved in this case has been placed on paid administrative leave; he was new to the job and had only been training for 30 days, according to News6.
Police Chief Mike Balken made a statement to the community in a press conference.
‘There are indications, unfortunately, that both had been drinking earlier in the night and may have been impaired,' Balken said.
‘Unfortunately, and really for reasons I can't fully yet explain, the officers failed to investigate a possible DUI or even question the driver's level of intoxication.'
'Instead, the brothers were allowed to drive away, and within minutes their vehicle struck and killed our victims,’ he added.

As of now, no criminal charges have been filed.
‘I've already spoken with the State Attorney's Office over potential charges for the officer for failing to do his job,' the cop added.
Police Chief Mike Balken met with the victims' families and is now searching for ways he could help them.
‘We owe it to the families involved and this community to address these failures head-on and ensure mistakes like this never, ever happen again. To the families that have lost their loved ones, I am profoundly sorry,' he went on.
'I only wish we had done more to prevent this tragedy.'
