Capcom has confirmed that it has suffered a cyberattack that led to the unauthorized release of data from more than 11 million accounts. The breach affected CAPCOM ID, the service that allows users to access some online features and services offered by the Japanese company.
According to the company’s official statement, the incident affected a total of 11,774,247 records worldwide. The stolen data includes email addresses, account creation dates, last login times, the total number of logins made, and IP addresses recorded during the most recent connection.
For 43 accounts, the breach had more serious consequences, with personal information such as date of birth, gender, country of residence, and nickname also being affected. Capcom also found 196 accounts whose passwords had been changed without the owners’ permission. In these cases, the company has already taken action to restore the login details.

The company has also made it clear that the original passwords set by users do not appear to have been compromised, nor have credit card details.
The attack was discovered on October 19, 2026, when monitoring systems detected suspicious activity and security measures were immediately put in place. In the following days, Capcom formed an internal team to handle the incident and informed the relevant authorities on October 21.
Users affected by the breach will be contacted directly by the company, which recommends being very careful with suspicious emails. The stolen data could be used for scam attacks, with messages designed to look like official communications from Capcom.
Finally, the company has assured users that emergency security measures have been completed and that the incident will not affect their ability to play its games. Investigations are still ongoing to determine the exact extent of the attack and improve security against possible future breaches.
In other Capcom news, the company says the decline of physical games will not significantly affect its business, as digital purchases now account for around 90% of its game sales.
