Motorola celebrated its 98th anniversary by releasing an official teaser for its upcoming foldable smartphone, named the Razr Fold Wide. The Lenovo-owned company, founded on September 25, 1928, marked the milestone with a social media post on X posing the question, “What comes next?”, signaling its future product direction.

The promotional video offers early glimpses of the Razr Fold Wide, highlighting a distinctly wider, squarish form factor. This design language reflects emerging industry trends, drawing visual comparisons to contemporary folding devices such as the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and the iPhone Duo. Instead of adhering to the tall, narrow aspect ratio of traditional clamshell handsets, the new model adopts a broader profile intended to provide expanded screen real estate when opened.

98 years of ideas that moved technology forward. And we’re still asking the same question: what’s next?

While complete technical specifications remain undisclosed, previous leaks indicate notable design enhancements. The front panel is expected to feature a virtually bezel-less design reinforced by curved 3D glass. Furthermore, industry expectations suggest Motorola is targeting the complete removal of the noticeable crease across the main flexible display, addressing one of the most persistent engineering challenges in the foldable segment.

Currently, detailed hardware specifications—including the processor platform, RAM capacity, internal storage, battery endurance, and camera configuration—have not been officially confirmed. Observers anticipate that additional technical details and certification listings will surface over the coming weeks leading up to an official launch event.

The teaser highlights Motorola’s continued strategic investment in the premium foldable category, positioning the Razr Fold Wide alongside its existing clamshell lineup as a direct competitor to top-tier flagship folding devices.
