Elon Musk says SpaceXAI will change its name to SpaceXSI following U.S. President Donald Trump’s push to replace the term artificial intelligence with “super intelligence.” The proposed rebranding comes as the Trump administration moves to adopt the new terminology across federal communications and encourage the AI industry to follow suit.

Trump signed an executive order directing federal departments and agencies to use “super intelligence” and “SI” in official communications. The order argues that modern AI systems have advanced beyond the capabilities originally associated with artificial intelligence.

The terminology change follows a series of polls Trump published on Truth Social last month. He initially asked users to choose between “supreme intelligence,” “extreme intelligence,” and “superior intelligence.” After revising the options across subsequent polls, he introduced “super intelligence,” which received 65% of the vote in the final poll.

Trump has argued that the term artificial intelligence is inaccurate and fails to reflect the capabilities of today’s advanced systems. However, it remains unclear whether other major technology companies will adopt the proposed terminology or change their branding.

The shift has already generated interest in domain registrations. According to the BBC, 44,000 websites ending in “.si,” the country-code domain associated with Slovenia, were registered in September, representing a 2,199% increase from August. The surge suggests that businesses and individuals are positioning themselves for a possible shift in how the technology is marketed.

The announcement also follows a White House meeting between Trump and several prominent technology executives, including Musk, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, and Google CEO Sundar Pichai. Participants signed the White House Accord on Super Intelligence, a voluntary agreement outlining safeguards related to cybersecurity, biosecurity, chemical threats, and unauthorized access to technical systems.

Trump has also announced the formation of a “Super Intelligence Force,” intended to coordinate federal efforts to maintain U.S. leadership in the field. The group will include officials from several government agencies.

Whether SpaceXSI becomes part of a broader industry-wide rebranding remains to be seen. For now, the proposed change highlights how political messaging and emerging technology are increasingly intersecting.
