Razzaq was previously jailed for the manslaughter of PC Sharon Beshenivsky.
The final six members of a criminal network responsible for converting and supplying blank‑firing firearms across London have been sentenced.
The Metropolitan Police investigation, which spanned 10 months, recovered 14 converted firearms linked to the network before they reached the streets and contributed to a significant reduction in shootings involving converted blank-firing weapons.
Among those sentenced today was Faisal Razzaq, 44, a key distributor within the network who played a central role in moving converted firearms from the workshop to buyers across London.
Razzaq was previously jailed for the 2005 manslaughter of PC Sharon Beshenivsky.
He was released from prison on licence in 2017 and moved to London. In May 2024, detectives from the Met's Specialist Crime team began investigating him due to intelligence indicating that he was involved in the sale and transfer of firearms.
Razzaq was arrested in September 2024 and the strength of the evidence collected by Met detectives led to him pleading guilty to a series of firearms offences.
At Harrow Crown Court, the following were sentenced to:
Detective Inspector Andy Durham, from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command, said:
“Today’s sentences bring this complex investigation to its conclusion.
“Faisal Razzaq, someone who was previously involved in the fatal shooting of a police officer, played a pivotal role in moving these dangerous converted firearms onto London’s streets.
"I am pleased the Met investigation has resulted in Razzaq being jailed again for a significant period of time.
“By dismantling the entire network, from those converting the weapons to those distributing and storing them, we have prevented a significant number of illegal firearms from reaching the public.
“The Met continues to intensify its work to drive down firearms offences and take weapons off the streets. Last year alone, officers seized 676 firearms, a 75 per cent increase on 2024. Our teams will continue to relentlessly target anyone involved in gun crime.”
At a sentencing hearing in February, the gang’s ringleader Thomas McKenna, 60, (23.01.66) who converted firearms in his caravan in Buckles Lane, South Ockendon, was jailed for 16 years’ after he pleaded guilty to a series of firearms offences.
McKenna also admitted making explosives and having a collection of terrorist material.
His partner Tina Smith, 55, (17.01.71) also of Buckles Lane, South Ockendon received six years’ imprisonment, after she also pleaded guilty to possessing a firearm, making explosives and having a collection of terrorist material
Gun customers Allan Crosby, 44, (29.07.81) of Etfield Grove, Sidcup and Ryan Smith, 44, (04.10.81) of Morants Court Road, Dunton Green were sentenced to 10 years and seven‑and‑a‑half years respectively after being found with a converted Ceonic pistol and modified ammunition.
Razzaq worked closely with brothers Robert and Ricky Dorey, neighbours of McKenna, to distribute the converted firearms.
Saleh assisted Razzaq with handling and moving the weapons, while Loughnane acted as an intermediary between the Doreys and McKenna.
Rigg stored a converted firearm at her home following instructions from the group.
How the group were caught
The investigation began in May 2024 when intelligence first identified Razzaq as a central figure involved in the sale and transfer of firearms.
Covert surveillance linked him to a firearm seized from a vehicle travelling to Notting Hill Carnival on 26 August 2024, which forensic specialists traced back to McKenna’s conversion workshop.
A warrant executed on 6 November 2024 uncovered a lathe, drill and tools used to convert blank‑firing weapons into functioning firearms, alongside ammunition, improvised explosive devices and extremist material. More than 100 items were recovered.
