Bank customers in many states must plan their branch visits accordingly as banks will remain closed on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, on account of Vijaya Dasami, Durga Puja and Maha Dashami. If you need to visit a bank branch in these states, check the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) holiday list before heading out.

Banks in Sikkim, Tripura, Karnataka, Assam, Kerala, West Bengal and Meghalaya will be closed on October 21, 2026, to celebrate Dussehra/Vijaya Dasami/Durga Puja (Dasain)/Maha Dashami.

In India, all scheduled and non-scheduled banks observe public holidays on the second and fourth Saturdays. The first, third and fifth (in some cases) are a working Saturday for banks unless specified in the RBI holiday calendar.

Even though bank branches will remain closed in a few states today, customers can use mobile banking, internet banking and the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) for their banking needs, as these services are generally available on holidays.
