Red Magic has launched the Red Magic 12 Pro+ in China, bringing another round of hardware upgrades to its gaming phone lineup. The new model gets a faster display, a massive 8,400mAh battery, and an updated cooling system that now adds RGB lighting to the liquid-cooling hardware.
Buyers outside China will get the phone under a different name. Red Magic says the device will launch globally as the Red Magic 12 Pro, with pricing, regional configurations, and availability details coming on November 3. The global model may also differ from the China version in some specifications.

Cooling remains a major focus
Like the previous Red Magic 11S Pro, the company has focused heavily on keeping the processor cool during longer gaming sessions. The Red Magic 12 Pro+ uses an updated AquaCore Cooling System with liquid cooling, a vapor chamber, graphene-based thermal materials, and a fan that can spin at up to 25,500 RPM.

RGB lighting is now built into the circular liquid-cooling module on the back and can react to in-game activity. Red Magic also says its dual-crystal micro-pump provides 85% more pumping power than the previous generation to cool major heat sources such as the CPU and battery.
Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 handles the main processing duties, paired with Red Magic’s RedCore R5 gaming chip. The latter supports features including frame interpolation, resolution enhancement, and ray tracing in compatible games.

The display now reaches 185Hz
The phone uses a 185Hz BOE display with the front camera placed underneath the panel, leaving the screen without a notch or punch-hole. It also gets 700Hz capacitive shoulder triggers and up to 5,000Hz instantaneous touch sampling.
Battery capacity has increased to 8,400mAh, up 12% from the previous generation. Charging reaches 120W over a cable and 80W wirelessly, while bypass charging can send power directly to the system during supported gaming sessions.
The Red Magic 12 Pro+ starts at 6,999 yuan (~$1,046) in China for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage model. Models with 16GB RAM and 512GB/1TB storage cost 7,999 yuan (~$1,195) and 8,999 yuan ($1,345), respectively. Nightfreeze and Subzero are available at launch, while Skyfrost is scheduled to arrive later in the year. Global buyers will have to wait until November 3 to find out which configurations and colors will carry over to the Red Magic 12 Pro.

We now have a phone with two active fans to keep it chill, and a ginormous battery too.
Two fans, a 185Hz display, and batteries so big that you won't need a power bank.

Putting an active cooling fan inside a gaming smartphone is not a revolutionary idea. Red Magic phones have done this for a while, but Honor apparently thinks a single fan isn't enough to cool the demanding Qualcomm flagship chip, so it included two in its new Win 2 gaming smartphone.
The Chinese company unveiled the device alongside the Honor Win RT2 and Win Turbo2, both of which come with a ridiculous 12,070mAh battery.
Xbox may finally be giving Game Pass the overhaul it badly needs
The planned overhaul could let players pay for individual Game Pass features instead of relying entirely on fixed subscription tiers.

Microsoft has spent years treating Game Pass as the centerpiece of Xbox, but the subscription service has become something of a problem for the company. Subscriber growth has fallen far short of internal expectations, while putting expensive first-party games on the service from day one has reportedly hurt the full-price sales Microsoft still relies on.
According to Fortune, Sharma is planning a major Game Pass overhaul that would let players choose some features à la carte, including add-ons for console-only games, cloud gaming, and multiplayer, while keeping a tiered subscription structure.
Xbox Project Helix is eyeing a 2028 launch, but the price could be as high as $1,800
As per internal estimates, Project Helix could cost between $1,200 to $1,800, unless Microsoft decides to sell it at a loss.

Microsoft has made plenty of waves with its upcoming Project Helix console, and it appears the company is planning a whole family of devices rather than a single gaming box. Beyond the expected performance leap, it seems the upcoming console will deliver another surprise, and not the good kind, mind you. Here's a hint: an astronomical price hike.
According to an expansive profile of Xbox chief Asha Sharma, Microsoft is eyeing a next-gen handheld for 2027, followed by Project Helix in 2028. The catch is the price. The next-gen Xbox could carry a steep asking price unless Microsoft absorbs part of the cost and eats into its margins, or even sells the console at a loss in the hope of making the money back through its services.
