The hardware world never rests, and the modding community has just made a splash. It turns out that the latest version of DLSS 5‘s neural rendering model, which initially only came with an NBA 2K27 update, has already been extracted and adapted to work in games that don’t even officially support it.
It all started when several users began experimenting with the new library file that Nvidia quietly released. This new model brings very noticeable technical improvements, such as a 24% reduction in size, a 20% decrease in video memory consumption at 4K resolution, and overall processing speeds that are twice as fast.
DLSS 5 Now Performs Up to 40% Better Thanks to Modders— Gaming Optimized (@GamingOptimiz) October 16, 2026Here is a Performance Comparison between DLSS 5 using the Old vs the New Model.
The new model is actually almost 40% faster here!
The color differences are mostly due to time of day, both are with stock settings (100% intensity and resolution).

The results from the first community tests were quick to arrive. For example, in titles like Forza Horizon 6, some players measured frame rate increases of up to 40% using the exact same graphics settings. In another demanding game like Resident Evil Requiem, the improvement was around 30% without any strange or annoying changes in visual quality. Even on heavy settings with ray tracing at 4K resolution and multiple frame rates, performance jumped from a modest 108 fps to a solid 150 fps.
The best part is that you don’t need the exact game or the latest graphics card to try it out. Thanks to modified tools and open-source software like OptiScaler, many gamers are managing to inject this technology into other titles and older hardware that were supposedly incompatible.
Until now, one of the biggest drawbacks of neural rendering was the high performance cost of having to pay to activate it. With these optimizations and the creativity of modders, the technology is becoming much more practical and accessible.
