The Intel Core i5-4670K was one of the brand’s most successful processors, and one of the best-selling of its generation. This processor uses the Haswell architecture, has 4 cores and 4 threads, and comes with an unlocked multiplier, so you can overclock it.

There was a version at a slightly higher clock speed, the Intel Core i5-4690K, which also had the multiplier unlocked for overclocking, but that version was pretty much the same, because it had the same number of cores and threads.

Haswell was introduced in 2013, so it is now 13 years old. The Intel Core i5-4670K operates at a speed of 3.4 GHz in base mode and 3.8 GHz in turbo mode, but since it has the unlocked multiplier, it can be overclocked.

In October 2024, this processor achieved a world record in Cinebench R11.5, and now, 12 years later, it has been possible to break that world record that has been unbeaten ever since.

The new world record with the Intel Core i5-4670K in Cinebench R11.5 has been achieved by raising the processor to 6.3 GHz, 66% more than the maximum speed in turbo mode that it reaches by default. To achieve this record, an ASRock Z97 OC Formula motherboard, 4 GB of DDR3 memory, and a Corsair AXi 1600W power supply have been used.

With that working speed, the consumption and heat of the Intel Core i5-4670K would have been untenable if liquid nitrogen had not been used as a cooling system. The operating system was Windows 7, and the score obtained was 10.80 points in multithread. In the previous record, a speed of 6,249 MHz and a score of 10.76 points were achieved.
