These days in particular, the use of AI in development is a hot topic, with many discussions about how it is being used in the gaming industry. In this regard, even an Xbox employee has shared his thoughts.
We’re talking about Brandon Stirrup, who works in the Business Strategy sector of Microsoft’s gaming division. A quick glance at this Xbox employee’s X/Twitter profile immediately shows how interested he is in artificial intelligence, a topic he seems particularly fond of, so much so that last weekend he created a simple soccer game in just a few hours, proudly showing off the results on social media.
AI and Video Game Development According to Xbox
This demonstration comes after a long series of posts in which Stirrup not only confirms that the use of AI in video game development is now inevitable, but that by 2026, there is no software house that doesn’t employ these technologies. Furthermore, it is also confirmed that Xbox itself uses AI in its game development.
This is a significant statement, which Stirrup himself says could cost him his job:
Look if I’m fired tomorrow it will be because I told you the truth that nobody wants you to know. You can make a game with a simple prompt and yes you can make custom, tailored games. Everything you want in a game is right there for the taking, for better or worse.
In short, according to the Microsoft employee, there’s no development team that doesn’t use these technologies, and anyone who claims otherwise isn’t telling the truth. Obviously, these claims should be taken with a pinch of salt, but it’s likely that the spread of these statements on social media will prompt Asha Sharma to respond in some way.
In other Xbox news, Microsoft has officially announced the Xbox Nano Controller, an ultra-portable, pocket-sized wireless gamepad priced at $49.99.
