Former reality television star Sam Wood has lodged a fresh bid for freedom after he was denied bail earlier this month over domestic violence allegations.

Wood, 46, was arrested after allegedly choking his wife Snezana during a holiday in Noosa in Queensland’s Sunshine Coast.

The former Bachelor star turned fitness guru has spent more than two weeks in custody, as his business unravelled and corporate partners abandoned him.

He faces domestic violence charges of assault occasioning bodily harm and strangulation.

After being denied bail on October 8, his legal team indicated they would file a new bail application in the Supreme Court.

The case is now listed for review on November 4.

Wood’s legal team are also seeking a non-publication order in relation to his case, although it remains unclear what circumstances of the matter may be suppressed.

Wood’s earlier bail application before the Maroochydore Magistrates Court heard details of how Snezana told police she feared he would kill her during an argument about packing when they returned to their luxury holiday unit on Hastings Street.

Wood allegedly pushed Snezana into a wardrobe, before the argument spilled into the hallway, where Wood’s stepdaughter, Eve Markoski-Wood, told him to stop yelling.

Wood then allegedly approached Eve aggressively and Snezana intervened, placing herself in Wood’s path and telling him to leave her daughter alone.

He allegedly grabbed his wife by the throat with one hand, throwing her against the wall and striking her head, the court heard.

While keeping a firm hold of Snezana, he then threw her to the floor, holding her throat, gripping tighter and preventing her from breathing, the court heard.

Snezana tried to free herself, but was unable to, the court heard. Eve then called Triple Zero.

Snezana had reported to police she was scared and thought her husband was going to kill her, acting magistrate Janelle Boegheim said during her bail decision at Maroochydore Magistrates Court.

Boegheim said Wood had recalled pushing his wife away, and that there was an incident, but that was the extent of it.

“He explicitly denies strangling or causing bodily harm to his wife,” Boegheim said.

The acting magistrate determined Wood would be an unacceptable risk if he was released.

The case will next be heard at Maroochydore Magistrates Court on November 23.
