Onto, a travel technology platform founded by former Groww professionals Jagdeep Singh and Shubham Goyal, has launched operations after raising $1 million in pre-seed funding led by Stargazer Fund and co-led by Singapore-based White Venture Capital.

The platform’s first offering, Price Drop Refund, automatically refunds travellers the difference if the price of their hotel booking falls after the reservation is made. The feature also covers eligible bookings made through other platforms, allowing users to bring existing reservations to Onto for price monitoring.

The company will use the funds to scale operations, strengthen its technology infrastructure and develop new products as it looks to build an AI-led travel platform.

Onto monitors hotel prices after booking and triggers a refund when the same hotel, room and dates become available at a lower price. The difference is credited to the original payment method, with updates sent through WhatsApp and app notifications.

Jagdeep Singh, co-founder of Onto, said the travel industry is built around transactions, so the moment you pay, everyone stops caring. “We started Onto to be the platform that stays on your side after you book,” he said.

The company plans to expand its services to bring travel bookings together in one place and use AI to personalise recommendations.

Shubham Goyal, co-founder said the platform’s technology is designed to identify hotel bookings, monitor prices and initiate refunds without requiring users to track changes themselves. Building this capability across bookings made on different platforms was a key part of the company’s initial technology development, he said.

Onto’s app recorded more than 2,000 downloads before its official launch. According to the company’s early booking data, almost every booking experienced a price change after it was made, while one in two bookings resulted in an automatic refund.

The platform has integrations with multiple hotel suppliers and offers bookings across domestic and international destinations. It plans to expand beyond hotels to simplify more aspects of the travel journey.
