Progressive U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez will take part in a town hall event with Democratic U.S. Senate nominee Troy Jackson in Portland next week, her campaign announced Friday.

Jackson and Ocasio-Cortez are slated to participate in a “Students vs. Billionaires” town hall at State Theater on Thursday. The event is scheduled to start at 2 p.m.

The More Perfect University event comes after Ocasio-Cortez’s recent campaign stops in Michigan to stump for Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed.

The event is “part of an effort by the Congresswoman to rally and turn out communities across the country ahead of the midterm election,” according to the announcement, and will feature questions from students.

Ocasio-Cortez is the latest in the growing list of national politicians who have made stops in Maine as the nation’s eyes turn to the hotly contested Senate race between Jackson and Republican Sen. Susan Collins.

Vice President JD Vance made two appearances in Maine this year, in Bangor and in Brewer.

Bernie Sanders, a progressive Vermont independent and well-known ally of Ocasio-Cortez’s, rallied with Jackson during his gubernatorial candidacy and then-Senate candidate Graham Platner in May, and joined Jackson again in Lewiston last weekend.

U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., was in Bangor on Wednesday to boost former Gov. Paul LePage’s run for Maine’s 2nd House District.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., rallied with Platner in April and is expected to join Jackson and Pingree at Saturday’s No Kings rally in Deering Oaks park.
