Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills won in overtime against the LA Rams with a dramatic 37-34 victory.

The Buffalo Bills move to 4-1 for the season to stay at the top of the AFC East, with the Rams falling to a disappointing 2-3.

Tyles Bass converted a late field goal to win in overtime after Harrison Mevis had missed a chance to clinch it for the Rams.

Josh Allen had 331 total yards and two touchdowns, including 121 rushing yards and one score.

Allen said after the game that he was happy to seize the opportunity to run the ball: “I do know how much of a backbreaker that can be on a defense when you think you’re in pretty good coverage. I felt like there was some room to manoeuvre there and keep the chains moving.”

This was the first time Allen had won an overtime game in the NFL, after his previous record stood at 0-7, including postseason defeats.

Josh Allen’s seven overtime losses for the Buffalo Bills have included three playoff defeats that ended their season, including the famous 2022 loss to the Chiefs.

• 19–22 vs. Houston Texans January 2020 (Playoffs, AFC Wild Card)
• 27–33 at Tampa Bay Buccaneers December 2021 (Regular Season)
• 36–42 at Kansas City Chiefs January 2022 (Playoffs, AFC Divisional Round)
• 30–33 vs. Minnesota Vikings November 2022 (Regular Season)
• 16–22 at New York Jets September 2023 (Regular Season)
• 34–37 at Philadelphia Eagles November 2023 (Regular Season)
• 30–33 at Denver Broncos January 2026 (Playoffs, AFC Divisional Round)

Now with a win in overtime secured, this will become less of a mental challenge for Allen to have to overcome.

When the Ravens defeated the Falcons in overtime the previous night, posters on social media were quipping that backup Tyler Huntley had more OT wins than Josh Allen. Now the Bills quarterback can move forward, without the only thing that has held him back.
