Brian Schottenheimer has pulled no punches after the Dallas Cowboys sunk to a second successive defeat.

The Dallas Cowboys responded to their shock defeat to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with a limp display against the Green Bay Packers.

Green Bay won the game 23-13, and the Cowboys have now fallen to 2-4 for the season. The Giants lead the NFC East with a 3-2 record.

Speaking after the loss, head coach Brian Schottenheimer admitted: “We’re in a hole, we put ourselves there. There’s one way out of it. That’s what I told the guys. We’ve got to work, we’ve got to find solutions, can’t repeat mistakes. They understand that.”

The Dallas Cowboys’ problem this season has been the defense. In the loss to the Packers it was the offense that really cost them.

The Cowboys failed to score a single point in the first half. Per Todd Archer, this was the first time Dallas had been shutout in the first half since the 2021 season.

Dak Prescott threw for 258 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. The quarterback admitted that the loss was on his side of the ball.

Speaking postgame he admitted: “The defense, to me, played a good enough game for us to go out there and win this, and we just didn’t hold our own on offense, and that’s what ultimately sucks about it.”

CeeDee Lamb was back from injury and posted 70 yards receiving from nine receptions. He was the only bright spark – but his presence also meant there was no excuse for the Cowboys, unlike their loss against Green Bay when he exited in the first quarter.

The Cowboys’ next game is a pivotal one against NFC East rivals the Philadelphia Eagles, who also sit at 2-4. The loser of that matchup will be in full crisis mode – if they aren’t already.
