The New York Giants are shaking up their running back room – again.
Najee Harris is set to be released by the New York Giants. NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport reports that the former Steelers running back is being waived.
Harris had four carries in Week 6 against the Saints, a small total despite a reduction in playing time for Cam Skattebo. This season Harris totaled 99 yards from 31 carries across the opening six weeks.
The Giants’ decision followed a public back and forth with head coach John Harbaugh.

Speaking after the New York Giants’ 27-34 defeat to the New Orleans Saints, Harris expressed frustration in his postgame comments.
Harris said: “It’s hard to get into a rhythm with one or two plays. If you’re getting a play here and then get taken out for a series, there’s nothing you could do. I’ve never been through none of this before.”
Former Ravens coach John Harbaugh was subsequently asked about Najee Harris’ words, and clearly was not at all impressed.
Harbaugh said: “Our run game hasn’t earned that yet, none of those guys have. My advice would be, do the most you can with the opportunities you get.

“Make the most of your opportunities and you’re sure to get more. Do something. I get it, you want to get out there and get a rhythm, but that rhythm is earned, too. And that hasn’t happened yet. I know he understands that.”
Harris has now been cut, leaving the Giants with a weakened running back group, along with their lack of clarity at quarterback between Jameis Winston and JJ McCarthy.
The remaining options on the depth chart are Cam Skattebo, Tyrone Tracey, and Devin Singletary.
The Giants are top of the struggling NFC East with a 3-2 record, ahead of the Cowboys and Eagles at 2-4. The Commanders trail at 1-4.
