mikilavellan:wifegideonnav:wifegideonnav:i feel like we as a society all just accepted “to close an envelope you lick it” way too easily. like oh i sent you a birthday card :) and then to seal the envelope i pulled all the saliva i could onto my tongue and slowly dragged it along the trail of bitter adhesive, careful not to cut myself on the sharp edge of the paper, and i smoothed the flap closed, pressing the wetted glue down to make sure the seam was sealed all the way around, knowing that when you open it you’ll slide your fingers along the same path my tongue traced, prying open the folded sheet to breach the seal i so diligently set down to protect the envelope’s cargo. an almost-kiss. and we do this for friends, enemies, and strangers alike. breathtaking. those pre-sticky envelopes with the peel off strips are destroying the eroticism of the mundane.
