To the victor belong the spoils.

It even includes Mountain West honors.

UNLV football earned two weekly awards following its 13-7 win against North Dakota State on Saturday at Allegiant Stadium.

UNLV’s defensive efforts produced the fewest points by a conference opponent at home since a shutout win over Utah in 2007.

Sophomore end Andre Porter is the Defensive Player of the Week and redshirt defensive lineman Kal-El Togafau was named Freshman of the Week.

Porter, a former Liberty High standout athlete and son of former Rebel defender Donnell Porter, produced the game’s biggest play when he returned an interception 23 yards for UNLV’s only touchdown. Porter also came up big in the fourth quarter with a sack that forced a fumble and led to an NDSU punt.

Togafau took home his second weekly freshman award after a six-tackle game that included a tackle-for-loss. He also earned this honor Sept. 7 after a win at Hawai’i.

Porter and Togafau are currently tied for fifth in the Mountain West with three sacks apiece.
