Another Ali G movie? Hey, if Sacha Baron Cohen could resurrect Borat for another Oscar-nominated movie six years ago, he shouldn’t have any trouble getting butts in seats for “Ali G: Who Iz I,” in theaters on October 23.

Still, the last project to star Cohen’s satirical poseur-rapper persona, the TV show “Ali G Rezurection” came out in 2014, in completely different cultural zeitgeist. And the last Ali G movie, “Ali G Indahouse,” was released in 2002, in an even earlier climate. It may be hard to believe, but Ali G originated nearly 30 years ago, and that begs the question: does Cohen have the comedic chops to make a relic of a bygone era relevant in 2026? If anyone is able to do it, it’s him, and we’ll find out if he does when “Who Iz I?” hits theaters on two weeks.

Here’s an official synopsis for “Ali G: Who Iz I?,” courtesy of Amazon MGM Studios:

After twenty years spent “chillin’, tokin’ and bonin’”, Ali G is shocked to discover that his long-term girlfriend, Julie, is 8 months pregnant. Faced with an extra mouth to feed, he gets off his batty and heads to America to reclaim his former glory… but soon encounters adversaries who will ultimately threaten his and his child’s very existence. Sacha Baron Cohen’s new film, ALI G: WHO IZ I? marks his directorial debut and will be released in theaters on October 23 by Amazon MGM Studios.

As of right now, the only official cast for “Who Iz I?” is Cohen and Morgana Robinson, but expect some other comedians and cameos to pop up in this own.

Cohen directs and produces “Who Iz I?,” and also produces the picture with Anthony Hines, Peter Baynham, Dan Swimer, Dan Mazer, and Keisha Zollar.
