As of 9 p.m.:
Eversource is reporting 19,356 customers without power. The most impacted towns are Clinton, Madison, New London, and Oxford.
United Illuminating is reporting 2,694 outages. The most impacted towns are Shelton and East Haven.
From fire department officials:
We have not yet seen a large increase in calls as a result of the storm. UI is reporting 7 customer's out of power in Milford right now, but are on the scene working to restore that power. Several streets in Milford were closed due to flooding during the high tide timeframe. Some of those areas include: New Haven ave/Pond Point Ave, Old Gate Lane at the over pass, Melba St/Buckingham Ave, Bayshore Dr area, Milford Point Rd/Seaview Ave and others. We expect all those areas to suffer from flooding again tonight during the next high tide at 11:51pm.
We advise the public to avoid driving in those areas during the high tide cycles throughout the weekend. As always, we urge drivers to refrain from driving through water across roadways. "Turn around, don't drown!" Keep a safe distance from all down trees and powerlines. Powerlines are likely still live and deadly. Report down power lines and trees across the road by calling 911 or our non-emergency line (203)878-5991.
