Usually, and I’ve said it before, when I need inspiration I head into Anthropologie. I mean, if you’ve ever stepped foot into their store at all, you know. The stores are just so fun and sparkly and full of amazing products, so I popped in to see what fall trends I could try on (and fall jackets, always Anthropologie for fall jackets and coats.) Right now they have 30% off fall fashion and up to 50% off the sale section, too!

I haven’t felt super inspired yet this year (I blame the unseasonably warm weather) but I hopped in to see what I could see. I saw…a lot of fun stuff, but also…I was a bit confused. There are some freaking gorgeous fall clothing options (and even some early holiday stuff) but there are also…a lot of florals and pastel stripes? It felt like such a strange mix of true fall colors and pieces and then like…leftovers from spring? I don’t know. It was weird. Is this a result of late-stage capitalism? Case in point…this outfit I tried to combo up…

Top (M) | Pants (30R) | Boots

Just…no. Lol. My face. I cannot tell a lie. I tried the top on and thought I could fall-ify it with the pretty maroon cords. Heh. Nope.

But alas, while some stuff was confusing, some of the pieces turned out to be cute and Anthropologie jeans have been such winners lately for me. So, I narrowed it down to a few items I felt excited about…a pair of striped dark wash jeans (that I already had and loved the cut of) a sweater, a jacket, a holiday top, a pair of corduroy pants and a few more things that were honorable mentions.

In addition to the mix of typical in-house brand items when I walked into my Portland Anthropologie, there were also some amazing Anine Bing pieces…like drool-worthy. Those aren’t in my budget right now, so I skipped trying on most of them, but they are worth a look if you’re a fan of hers. I’ve had a couple of her sweatshirts over the years and they are so continually good. They’re fancy but outfit-makers if you’re into graphic sweatshirts. And now that I’ve looked online, too? I’m obsessed with these kitten heels.

Ok, so while they decidedly did not go with the button down shirt above, they are decidedly adorable pants, especially in this gorgeous fall color. If you’ve tried the Maeve Colette pants before, you know. They are so good. The patch front pockets make them lay nicely at the top and the stretch makes them comfy. I’ve retired my cropped pairs, but I am in love with the full length. They’re so cute with my favorite TWP shirt (that I wound up liking better than the tops I found at Anthro.)

I’ll let you know right away that these Pilcro jeans came home with me. They are so good. The jeans I wore into Anthro this day are also the same cut, but in a utility version and they seem a bit wider than this striped pair. This pair is so freaking good. I love both but these (non utility style) have a slightly slimmer cut in the leg while still being a nice barrel/balloon style.

Sweater Jacket (M) | Cardigan (M) | Jeans (30) | Boots

This sweater jacket is so freaking cute (and warm) and incredibly cozy. If you’re shopping Anthropologie jackets this fall, this is the one. It’s substantial, has a double zipper and long sleeves *like the kind that come over your hands a bit and are perfect.) Highly recommend this for a chic upgrade to a fleece jacket.

This tee is so freaking cute, comes in a few amazing colors and would be perfect with anything from regular jeans to skirts or velvet pants for the holidays. I love the idea of doing a monochromatic look with it (these pants or these would go with some of the colors it comes in.) It has stretch and the fit was great. I was worried it would be too tight or uncomfortable but I loved it.

Sweater (M) | Jeans (30R)

Ok this picture doesn’t do it justice. The dressing room light was either like a spotlight or a weird halo making me look like I was sent from the heavens, so pics were tricky lol. But this sweater is sooooo good. I think it’s the exact same as a cardigan from Free People I have and have loved for years. It’s nice and thin and so incredibly soft. It comes in a bunch of great colors, too. Wish I had tried the pink stripe. FUN.

Blazer (M) // Sweater (M) Jeans (30) | Boots

Maeve Velvet Blazer: This Maeve Velvet Blazer was so good but I think I just needed different pieces to style it with to make it pop. Doh. I should have tried it with the sequin tee. But gosh while I love the dark green, the chocolate brown on the site is now calling my name. TTS and better quality than the blazer below.

Maeve Coco Cashmere Cardigan: This Maeve Coco Cashmere cardigan is soft and cute, but just a little bit of a strange fit on me? But I still like it. I have a shorter upper body so if yours is a typical length or a bit longer this might be perfect for you. It comes in a ton of colors.

Pilcro Kayden Utility Jeans: These jeans were the pair I wore from home that I already had and adore. They’re the same cut as the striped pair above, but in a utility style which has a bit more width to the legs. They’re still stocked in a slightly darker wash here. The fit is slightly looser (or maybe mine have broken in a bit) and super comfy. I love the cuff.

Pilcro Azura Wide Leg Track Stripe Jeans: These are really cute but they have to be exactly the right length on you or they don’t work. The bottom hem is tall and stiff, so if it’s even slightly too long (and I have heeled boots on here) it doesn’t work. Worth a try I guess if you find the right inseam (and they do offer Petite, Tall and Plus in one of the 2 colors) but they were just too tricky for me. I’m not wearing a taller shoe than this and they didn’t have the Petite in store for me to try.

Maeve Mabel Boxy Oxford Shirt: We’ve been over this one. Cute idea, but meh, the color selection wasn’t it for me right now and I like the boxy fit, but the length was wrong on me, too.

Avec Les Filles Knit Blazer: I wanted to love this oversized Avec Les Filles blazer jacket. It’s an easy-to-wear plaid (some of the plaids are just over the top busy right now and hard to style) but the quality here is so sad. It does say it’s a knit blazer, but regardless, the fabric was wrinkly and it just felt schlumpy on. Not impressed.

I hope as always this was helpful if you’ve been eyeing up any of these fall anthro pieces. I want to go back in a few weeks and see what updates they’ve made for holiday. I do love just being in their stores! But sometimes the clothing is so hit-or-miss. Let me know if you’ve found any recent winners!
