iOS 27 is now available to everyone, and one of the big changes is that it makes your iPhone a lot faster. In fact, Apple has outlined more than 30 ways in which your iPhone will be faster after you update.

When Apple announced iOS 27 in June, the company emphasized that it combed through its software to make it faster and more reliable. “Improvements across platforms push key system capabilities forward so everyday tasks feel faster, smoother, and more enjoyable,” Apple said.

Here are more than 30 ways iOS 27 makes your iPhone faster:

• Faster loading of new captures in Photos (up to 70% faster)
• Faster to open full-screen view from Photos widget
• Faster rendering of Collections tab in Photos
• Faster to start uploading to iCloud Photos
• Faster Camera launch in Low Power Mode
• Faster to add recent camera captures in Messages
• Faster start page content loading in Safari
• Faster web application performance in Safari
• Faster handling of JavaScript in Safari
• Faster message loading in Mail
• Faster HomeKit accessory pairing
• Faster smart home accessory updates
• Faster Now Playing view loading in Music
• Faster Apple Music playback start
• Faster board previews in Freeform
• Faster data updates in the Health app
• Faster workout start in the Workout app
• Faster Lock Screen switching
• Faster app launches (up to 30% faster)
• Faster AirPlay connections to Apple TV and HomePod
• Faster network file browsing
• Faster and more reliable NFC reading
• Faster Voice Control response in iOS
• Faster entry and exit from Assistive Access and Guided Access modes
• Faster PDF saving
• Faster Text Recognition in photos and documents
• Faster Rapid Return to Service
• Faster loading of emoji and sticker keyboards
• Faster shortcuts and actions indexing in Spotlight

• Faster AirDrop recipient discovery
• Faster access to shared content on iCloud.com

iOS 27 is compatible with iPhone models dating back to the iPhone 11. In fact, Apple even says that some of its performance metrics are based on testing it conducted with the iPhone 11 lineup.

For example, Apple says that apps launch up to 30% faster with iOS 27. This statistic is based on testing Apple performed on the iPhone 11 Pro Max, comparing app launch speeds between one model running iOS 26.4.2 and another running iOS 27.

All of this is very impressive — especially for people using “older” iPhone models. Apple has fixed enough bugs and made such a jump in performance that I think most iPhone users will notice a big improvement when they install iOS 27 later this year. It’s particularly impressive when you consider Apple made all these improvements to performance while simultaneously implementing a ground-up revamp of Siri.
