I was shocked by the 456 million tossed loaves. With about 28 million Aussies the arithmetic says that every resident throws away 16 loaves of bread a year. Maybe the food waste issue needs to be attacked from the overpurchasing/overproduction end first. If a loaf weighs about 500g, that's a lot of wasted wheat.

Good for those guys! and good for everyone. Such a great idea and awesome that they rcv'd a grant. Good article. I'm always lovin' the success stories of folks who re-use and or upcycle things that others cast off as useless. I'd like to try the beers from Local.
