An 18-year-old Connecticut teen died after he and a friend went paddleboarding in Massachusetts, police said.

The unidentified teenager reportedly drowned after he fell into Jenkins Pond in Falmouth around 5.50pm on Monday, according to the Falmouth Police Department.

A 911 caller reported that the victim had gone underwater and that he couldn't locate him, officials said.

Both were on the paddleboard before he fell into the water, cops said.

When first responders arrived at the scene, they deployed a boat into the pond, pulled him from the water, and immediately started life-saving measures, the agency said.

The teen was then transported to Falmouth Hospital, where he died. He is from Vernon, according to Patch.

His cause of death has not yet been determined, and his identity is unknown as of Tuesday afternoon.

It is unclear if the other paddleboarder was injured.

The Daily Mail contacted the Falmouth Police Department for comment.

The tragedy comes just a day after two canoers died while trying to get a glimpse of the Bay Area's captivating luminescence.

Casey Flynn Melia, 36, and his friend, Alexander Ferguson, 37, were found dead on Sunday around 1:30pm after they left for the voyage around midnight in Tomales Bay - a narrow inlet in Marin County, California.

Ferguson was found in the water, while Melia was located on shore, just north of Hog Island, the police said.

Both men, who were wearing life jackets, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Melia and Ferguson were reported missing after the pair failed to return from their trip as planned, the Marin County Fire Department said.

The teen was then transported to Falmouth Hospital, where he died

The details of what led to their deaths remain unknown.

Marin County Sheriff's Office, the National Park Service, and the Coast Guard are leading the investigation.

Tomales Bay is known for its dangerously cold water, hazardous conditions near the sandbar and the mouth, and strong afternoon winds.
