There has been a flood of .si domain sales lately, and domain investors should be aware of a major privacy issue.

After selling a domain, the seller can see the buyer’s address when the buyer transfers the domain to another registrar. I’m not sure if it’s the other way around, too.

The .si registry sends a confirmation email to the seller when the domain is transferred. It states:

Registrar [registrar name] successfully transferred domain name [domain] to a new domain name holder.

The confirmation email then provides the new holder’s mail and email addresses.

Email addresses are made public in .si Whois, so the email address isn’t the big concern. But be aware that you might be providing a stranger with your home address when you buy a .si domain.

I highly recommend using a P.O. Box or something similar for all of your domain contacts.
