satanfemme:satanfemme:satanfemme:speaking for myself I don’t want any of the people who’ve abused me (sexually or otherwise) to be castrated in a public spectacle or killed in my name. and I don’t want 1 million random people gleefully fantasizing about enacting that violence either. I actually want much crazier concepts like “material support and safety nets so people of any age can leave dangerous living situations whenever they need to”, and “comprehensive education on abuse for everyone starting at a young age, so people better understand how to treat others and how they themselves deserve to be treated”, and “more ways to receive outside help that doesn’t rely on cops or invoke the carceral justice system”, and “the dismantling of the patriarchal structures that incentivize men to treat women and children as property”, and “basic human rights for children”.there are not “forever evil people to be scared of” and “forever harmless people to trust”. everyone is capable of both good or harm, and the more positions of power you are in the more you are incentivized by the patriarchy/white supremacy/the family structure/ableism/classism/etc to cause harm to maintain your control and privilege. that is why we need systemic changes first and foremost, and punitive justice has literally never ever worked.so with that in mind, if/when you hurt someone else what are you going to do about it? castrate yourself? is that your whole plan? if your friend, partner, or kid says “hey you really hurt me the other day when you XYZ :-(” do you actually have a plan for what you’d say or do to help the other person in that situation?“oh don’t worry I’m a good person who’d never hurt someone.” yeah my abusers said the same thing. so forgive me if I’m 100% more scared of people like you than anyone who’s privately admitted to their harm and is actively trying to make amends and grow and speak out on these systems of violence. get a grip.#can’t speak for everyone but the gleeful fantasizing abt violence p much always makes me feel like the focus is still on the abuser #not the victim
