Of the soundtrack, composer YUMA YAMAGUCHI says, “’Goodbye, Lara’ is a very special project for me, and one I’ve been deeply invested in from the beginning. Blending orchestral writing with voices from around the world and reshaping acoustic recordings into new textures, I wanted to create a sound that felt true to Lara’s story while taking a more alternative approach to acoustic orchestral music. I’m very happy with how it came together, and I look forward to sharing it with listeners.”
ABOUT “GOODBYE, LARA”
Long, long ago, there lived a mermaid princess named Lara. She was raised with love by her father, the king of the sea and her sisters.
One day, Lara fell in love with a human prince who lived on the land. It was a forbidden love—one that was not allowed in the world of mermaids. Still, Lara journeyed to the surface. With a potion, given to her by the witch Grace, she became human.
But the potion came at a cost—fail to find true love, and she would turn into foam and return to the ocean. Though she was a princess of the sea, Lara chose to love a human. Yet, her wish went unfulfilled and she vanished into the waves.
Two hundred years later, Lara awakens once more in Lake Biwa to finally search for her true love.
