A two-year-old boy was miraculously saved after he overdosed on cocaine at an Airbnb on the Jersey Shore.

His mother's friend, Alexander T Moles, 39, is now facing charges for the terrifying incident at a rental property in Wildwood, New Jersey on Monday.

Moles had been tasked with watching over the two-year-old and other children while his mother was taking a shower ahead of their checkout from the property at 11am, according to court documents obtained by NJ 101.5.

When the mother then stepped out of the shower, she noticed her young son was sleepy and was having trouble breathing.

Moles then allegedly rushed the toddler to a local hospital in his vehicle - and called the tot's mother on the way, asking her if it was OK if her son fell asleep, the court documents allege.

The boy's mother then replied that it was not OK, and called first responders to the scene of their rental property at the intersection of 21st and New Jersey avenues.

Moles then allegedly told authorities he believed the child had taken 'pain killers.'

Emergency responders then administered two doses of Naloxone nasal spray to reverse the effects of the overdose - which the unidentified child responded to, the Cape May County Prosecutors' Office said.

The toddler was then transferred to Cooper University Cape Regional Hospital for further medical testing, where his blood work came back positive for cocaine.

As the investigation continued, authorities conducted a search of the rental property - and found a partial pill that was orange and white, several tinfoil packets labeled 'tapentadol hydrochloride,' a clear plastic bag containing a white substance and several short straws.

Tapentadol hydrochloride is a strong prescription pain killer used to treat chronic and nerve pain. Drug users sometimes abuse the medication by taking it with other drugs, like cocaine, to increase its effects.

Moles – who works as an emergency medical technician for the Paterson Fire Department – was ultimately apprehended on Tuesday and was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of prescription legend drugs.

He was booked in Cape May County Correctional Facility and was released with conditions on Friday following a detention hearing.

Moles now faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted.

The Daily Mail has reached out to Moles' attorney, John Zarych, for comment.
