Ahead of a year-long closure of the Highway 243 Osceola Bridge, residents are encouraged to attend an information meeting on Monday.

The Minnesota and Wisconsin Departments of Transportation announced that a joint meeting will take place 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 21, at Osceola High School. The project team will be on hand to answer questions, review project layouts and outline construction plans. No formal presentation is planned.

Some pre-construction measures are already in place ahead of the bridge’s closure to traffic, which is scheduled for October and estimated to last a year: The north boat launch and parking lot at Osceola Landing closed last week and will be used for construction equipment and materials during the project. The south boat launch and parking lot will remain open during this period.

The current bridge was built in 1953. The $25 million replacement — which will include a new link between Osceola Landing and the village of Osceola via a pedestrian and bicycle path — is estimated to finish construction in fall 2028.
