Sir Tom Jones is set to star in the upcoming series of Celebrity Gogglebox, which will premiere on Friday.

Channel 4 bosses are said to be delighted the singer, 80, is taking part in the show, which will follow a host of stars reviewing the latest TV programmes.

Tom will join his Voice co-star Anne Marie, 30, on the sofa, with producers telling The Sun 'their chemistry on screen is fantastic'.

A source told the publication: 'Sir Tom has been on the wish-list for Gogglebox bosses for a long time.

'His schedule is incredibly busy but this time they have managed to secure him for filming. Everyone is hugely excited about Sir Tom coming on board.

'He will be on the sofa watching the box with Anne-Marie. They got on like a house on fire on the show and their chemistry on screen was fantastic.'

Spice Girls' Melanie Chisholm revealed she was taking part in the show alongside her racing driver brother Paul O'Neill, 41.

Appearing on The One Show on Wednesday, Mel, 47, said about filming: 'Well I'm quite a bit older than Paul so I've always been the boss.

'But the funny thing is I've had this incredible career with the Spice Girls and done loads of different things but when I'm on a show like this [The One Show], or ever been filmed you're kind "of on".

'But when I'm sat with my little brother, your annoying little brother, you think "am I going to be too relaxed?"

'He's going to throw me under the bus isn't he, expose all my secrets. It's jeopardy.'

BBC Radio presenter Clara Amfo and Clare Balding are also reported to star on the show for the first time.

Lorraine will also be forming part of the line-up alongside her daughter Rosie.

Other names include footballers Micah Richards and Jamie Carragher, Happy Mondays stars Shaun Ryder and Bez, and broadcaster Gyles Brandreth and Maureen Lipman, Laura and Iain Stirling and Martin Kemp and son Roman.

Denise Van Outen and Rylan are also back for the new series.

Celebrity Gogglebox returns on Channel 4 on Friday.
