WASHINGTON, Sept. 16, 2026 - Ziply Fiber has finished building a fully redundant fiber ring in Quincy, Washington, creating a carrier-grade loop designed to serve the area’s growing data center market. The company announced the milestone in a recent press release, saying the infrastructure will deliver diverse, high-capacity connectivity for hyperscalers, cloud providers, and AI workloads.
“Quincy has become one of the most important data center markets in the country, and the companies building there need infrastructure that keeps pace with the workloads they are running,” said Chris Gellos, General Manager of Commercial at Ziply Fiber. “This ring gives those operators the path diversity and reliability that AI infrastructure demands.”
Quincy has emerged as a key data center hub in the Pacific Northwest, thanks to its access to cheap hydroelectric power and proximity to major fiber routes. Ziply Fiber highlighted those advantages in its announcement, noting that the new ring strengthens the city’s appeal for large-scale, power-intensive computing facilities.
The redundant design means traffic can be rerouted automatically if one segment of the ring is cut or goes down, improving reliability for mission-critical operations. That kind of resilience is increasingly important as data centers support AI training, cloud services, and other latency-sensitive applications.
The Quincy ring is part of a broader push by Ziply Fiber into data center connectivity across Washington state. The company has been expanding its footprint in the region, positioning itself as a wholesale and enterprise fiber provider for facilities that need high-capacity, low-latency links.
By completing the Quincy loop, Ziply adds another node to its growing network of data-center friendly infrastructure in the Pacific Northwest, competing with other regional fiber players for contracts with hyperscalers and large enterprise customers.
Ziply Fiber is owned by BCE Inc. in Montreal, Canada.
